One policeman dies; another critically injured in Lower Dir blast

An unfortunate event happened on Monday when a police officer was killed and another was hurt when a bomb went off during a defusing operation in the Lower Dir District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province.

The KP provincial police said that the Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU) was defusing bombs near the Panjkora River.

According to the reports, the explosive device went off during the operation, killing one police officer and seriously hurting another.

When the rescue teams got there, they took the hurt people to the closest hospital to get medical help.

A lot of explosions were heard in many cities in Pakistan before the 2024 general election.

Jawad Tariq, SSP of Operations, said that there was a blast on the CPEC road in Quetta that killed a person who was walking by.

He said that 8 to 10 kilograms of explosives were used in the blast, but that more work is still being done to find out who died.

The SSP operations said that there were no planned election activities at the time of the incident, but that security is very high in the area before the general election.

The second explosion happened on Ghulam Nabi Chowk Turbat. One person was hurt, but no one was killed.
